Dreaming Flying

When I was a child
I used to dream of flying,

That's being mild
I often dreamt I was flying.

I started low then gradually rose.
Not fast like superman
But steady and then I would pause.

And I was not frightened,
It was not impossible,
It was like I had learnt it
And would do it when my eyes closed.

When I was a child I often dreamt I was flying
And now I can't figure out when that dream started dying.

Yellow

There once lived a girl behind the yellow door
Who wanted anything but to be a bore
Books, movies and music she did adore
And sometimes laying in the shade at some shore

Then one day into her life he tore
the one who would move her world to the core
This had never happen to her before
And she thought her heart would soar

That yellow door seemed so far
As he grew less and less fonder
With him she felt so much older
and could count the times she was sober

Amazing how always and forever
Could be so easily severed
His strong hand would bring her near
Pieces of her heart his souvenir

How could something seem so good
Just to feel the rag pulled from where I stood
I have never really understood
How love and pain rendezvous

The State

Mr Government Official
You don't hear us when we call
Unless you are invited for a funeral
And there you stand tall and erect
Just when we think you about to pay your respects
You inform us that you we should elect

Dear Member of Parliament
We will now share our sincere sentiments
That we watch bewildered as you juggle
All the lies, greed and graft that you can handle
Though we must admit we are impressed
How every year you give us less and less

We watch you on TV as you connivingly tell
How if we listen to your opponent we'll be living in hell
But truth be told you are quite the Judas
And you always pick you over us
And in the shadows we are aware of what you do
When you and our public funds rendezvous

We may have taken long to learn
That in your hands this country will burn
And you have very little to offer
When this event eventually does occur
So since we want love, prosperity and peace
We are finally dealing with you, our charming disease

You bake, They Eat

Different people in this world are born
Some are givers, some are cons
It takes a while before it all dawns
That in your flesh this bugger will be a thorn

You always have to have your way
Eating through others like a Buffet
I hope I never get to see the day
When I listen again to the words you say

If you're not careful you may see a change
Others make in you for their own sake
When they are busy eating all your cake
And what you do all day is bake and bake

You were constantly by my side
Always giving such intrinsic lies
You know one day for this you're gonna fry
Because from the things you've done you cannot hide

You don't believe me, it will come to pass
The world will show you doubting Thomas
Every minute you were covering your ass
You didn't learn Karma, welcome to class

Footprints

We are entwined with Each other

And soon enough you'll discover

That when it is All over

We follow no law or order

Pray that we still remain friends

When I close my eyes and count to ten

Because I'm not sure that I can

And I'm about done playing pretend

Everything we do leaves a footprint

What we can and can’t resist

Of both we are the culprit

We shall wear it if the shoe fits

As you huff puff, ache and bleed

As you coax, even as you plead

There is a path that will lead

To your every single deed

Be you generous be you Mean

Be you chunky Be you Lean

It shall all remain to be seen

You will reap only where you were keen

Gone By

I give up. Bring it on. Change is good, so take the years gracefully. As you look at that youngthling, wanting what they have, remember that you have loads of stuff they long to have. So for the days that have gone by, let them. You are exactly where you are meant to be. Enjoy it, I have decided to.

There was a time,
I viewed being old as being 23
When the world was mine
And I always wanted to be free

Then came the laugh-lines
And the Sprinkle of cellulite
Where 40 seems prime
And worries don't include your height

A tank-top is now ridiculous
Clanging bangles make you think of a cow
Drinking a soda is you being spontaneous
And painfully strappy heels make you wonder 'How?'

You can now laugh by yourself
And raise a toast to the world
Sometimes even ask for help
Enjoying the woman who was once a girl

So white braids I will gladly give a rest
To pave way to my haircut and arched brows
Ear-ringed boys with muscle showing vests
Bye Bye now, you I have outgrown

For the years that have gone by
And changes that I have fought
For you I shall not cry
I have found what I always sought.

What's Mine

I may not have a dynasty, but what is have is mine

I can make it my fantasy, even if I cannot buy time

I may lose my sanity, and never see a dime

But I will not need charity, it will all be fine

Things will always get better, the sun may not always shine

Nut just be a go-getter, you'll be pleasantly surprised

And you will later see, it's just a matter of time

Because you're building for forever, and Forever's a long time
